The Kiddo

This blog is about Fragile X and the way it affects our life. The kiddo is the main attraction.

In 2004 my husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for two years. We had been told by a reproductive endocrinologist that the only way we could get pregnant was to do IVF... at $12,000 a pop and a 50% chance of getting pregnant.  Of course if we didn't a partial refund was available. We were at our wit's end.

We went to a church conference (www.upci.org) to hear something from God:  you are going to Africa, you won't have a baby.. or like God told Mary, "You will bring forth a son."

There was a healing service in which a lady came up and prayed for me.  After praying she told us, "What has been conceived today, when you go home will change your world.  It will change your church.  It will change your home. You will go home and bring forth."  She mentioned "you will bring forth" about three times.

The next night was a missionary service in which someone walked up to us and said, "You two remind me of my wife and I. Four years ago we didn't know what to do. God gave us a child.  Don't worry. God will take care of everything."

Three months later I was pregnant. Three years later our son was diagnosed with autism and Fragile X.
